The Gritti Palace, part of Marriott International’s Luxury Collection, is recruiting a Chef de Rang to join the F&B team and report to the Restaurant Manager. This is a position within a team of experienced professionals who are passionate about food and beverage service.

Contract: full-time (40-hour working week).

The hotel offers a setting of exceptional art and elegance on the Grand Canal and serves an international elite during events such as the Biennale, Carnival and the Venice Film Festival.

Key responsibilities

  • Welcome guests and promptly attend to assigned tables, providing a warm and professional greeting.
  • Serve food and beverages, offering recommendations and sharing thorough menu knowledge when requested.
  • Record transactions accurately and timely in the MICROS system.
  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each course and beverage.
  • Maintain table cleanliness, complete closing duties and restock tableware and supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen about menu queries, wait times, recook orders, product availability, allergies, dietary needs and special requests.
  • Adhere to cycle time guidelines for meals and keep work areas clean throughout the shift.
  • Inspect the presentation and cleanliness of china, glass and silverware before use, and follow Standard Operating Procedures and brand identity guidelines at all times.

Requirements

  • Legal right to work in Italy for a full-time role (40 hours/week).
  • Fluent in English and Italian.
  • Good understanding of F&B operations and luxury hospitality standards.
  • Positive, outgoing personality with strong conversational and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in a similar role within fine dining is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of MICROS is desirable.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, and to stand, sit or walk for extended periods; professional appearance in a clean uniform is required. Pre-employment safety training and certification will be requested.
