Descrizione della Posizione Lavorativa
Position: Mid-level Researcher in Advanced Spatial Modelling of the Built Environment for Climate Adaptation and Resilience. Application deadline: July 21st, 2026.
We seek a motivated, well-organized researcher with expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Urban Digital Twins (UDT) and climate-informed decision-support systems to advance climate adaptation and resilience in urban contexts. The successful candidate will develop modelling frameworks to support urban regeneration, scenario analysis and the assessment of climate risks and adaptation strategies across multiple spatial scales.
Role
The researcher will report to the REMHI Division Director and contribute to the design, development and application of spatial and computational models representing buildings, infrastructure and urban systems to evaluate their response to current and future climate stressors.
- Develop and deploy Urban Digital Twin frameworks and BIM-enabled workflows for digital representation, simulation and monitoring of buildings and infrastructure under climate stressors.
- Lead BIM–GIS interoperability tasks including data conversion, harmonization and visualization using open standards (e.g., IFC, CityGML, CityJSON, glTF/GLB, 3D Tiles).
- Create methodologies and semi-automated procedures to compute and visualize indicators and KPIs on climate resilience, energy performance, urban comfort and public space quality.
- Contribute to 2D/3D visualization environments and interfaces for comparing baseline and alternative urban regeneration scenarios.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams across engineering, architecture, urban planning and digital technologies.
Requirements
- PhD in Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in BIM and digital twins for the built environment and familiarity with BIM standards (IFC, openBIM, ISO 19650).
- Hands-on experience with BIM software such as Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bentley or BlenderBIM, and with Common Data Environments (CDEs) and UDT architectures.
- Experience with BIM–GIS interoperability workflows and web/3D visualization tools (e.g., CesiumJS, Three.js, IfcOpenShell, Speckle) is an asset.
- Experience in urban/building-scale modelling, scenario analysis, climate risk and vulnerability assessment, decision-support tools and visualization for policy/planning is valued.
- Excellent command of English, strong communication and teamworking skills, and good organizational ability to manage multiple priorities.
Duration, compensation and benefits
- This opportunity is advertised internally and externally. Workplace: CMCC office in Caserta.
- Contract: Coordinated and Continuous Collaboration contract, starting on October 1st, for a duration of 12 months.
