Purpose and context

The Finance Department supports INTERSOS operations in major emergencies. The selected professional will have a central role in ensuring sound financial reporting and the economic sustainability analysis of projects and missions.

Main responsibilities

  • Accounting & Financial Statements: keep foreign accounting updated and synchronised monthly in the accounting software; coordinate preparation of consolidated project/mission financial statements (to be finalised by the second quarter of the following year); support HQ audit activities as technical contact; perform financial analyses and prepare intermediate summaries; propose adjustments and technical improvements to accounting processes; facilitate alignment of processes and system rules across HQ and regions and provide technical guidance to regional teams.

  • Accounting system (with software developer): review and help implement procedures to streamline the system; identify gaps between needs and system functions and propose practical solutions; evaluate system performance; design and deliver training on the accounting system for finance and non-finance staff; collaborate in developing tools to track and analyse mission accounting data.

  • Foreign financial statements: draft technical aspects of foreign financial statements; support missions on queries from external auditors; propose workflows to simplify preparation and presentation of foreign financial statements; work with Archive & Docs Officer to verify that archived documents are consistent with accounting data.

  • Archive: cooperate with Archive & Docs Officer to improve the quality of the electronic archive and ensure consistency with accounting records.

Required profile and experience

  • Technical diploma in Accounting and/or University Degree in Economics and Business (or equivalent).

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar or relevant role.

  • Previous experience in the non-profit sector and familiarity with Third Sector legislation is highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping; proven experience in project and grant financial reporting for public and private donors.

  • Experience managing administrative and accounting documentation (invoices, payments, bank statements, guarantees, insurance) and HR/payroll documents (pay slips, LUL, INPS, INAIL, appointment letters, timesheets).

  • Excellent command of Microsoft Excel and MS Office; familiarity with online reporting portals and cloud collaboration tools (e.g., Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint).

  • Good command of English is required; knowledge of French is a strong asset.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Requisiti

Technical diploma in Accounting and/or Degree in Economics/Business; 3–5 years relevant experience; NGO/non-profit experience desirable; strong accounting and project reporting skills; fluent English (French is an asset).
