About the project
Outlier partners with leading innovators to improve AI agents by incorporating human feedback. The team works on shaping the future of autonomous agents — for example, systems like OpenClaw — by training Large Language Models (LLMs) to act as proactive, multi-step agents.
Our work centers on teaching these models how to design, coordinate and optimize complex, real-world architectural workflows. Whether you are an orchestration specialist or an experienced software developer, we want you to help train some of the most advanced generative systems available.
Ideal qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in backend engineering, AI automation, or complex systems integration.
- Proven ability to build and maintain production-grade software with modular separation (for example: separate services for data parsing, logic processing and reporting).
- Strong command of at least two major languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Go, or Java) and experience with SQL databases.
- Practical experience building for live, non-mocked environments and managing multi-turn system interactions.
- Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, high-density technical feedback on complex system behavior.
Nice to have
- Experience creating multi-stage coordination tasks where data collection yields reasoned outputs.
- Hands-on integrations of agents with live tools such as Supabase, Gmail and various external APIs to solve real-world problems.
- Comfort implementing persistent state and session discovery (for example using MEMORY.md) to track agent progress.
- Experience identifying subtle failures like privacy leaks, authority escalation, or indirect prompt injections.
