Job Purpose and Dimensions

You will lead the Dairy Product Development team and take ownership of the dairy product and project portfolio. In partnership with Sales, you will bring market-ready, innovative solutions to customers, drive cost reductions via raw-material optimisation, value engineering and simplification, and secure business continuity by qualifying alternatives and ensuring regulatory and compliance alignment. You will balance short-, medium- and long-term priorities, allocate resources efficiently and manage both internal and external partners with a strong customer focus. This role partners with the Meat & Dairy BU and covers dairy categories including yoghurt, desserts, processed cheese, soft cheese and dairy specialties, and is part of the Global Protein Growth category.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product & Portfolio Management: Own and prioritise the project portfolio to support profitable growth through innovation, sustainability, simplification, compliance and cost-out initiatives.
  • Execution: Lead delivery of the approved R&D pipeline via the Stage-Gate process, meeting committed timelines and enabling strong cross-functional collaboration across sites and functions.
  • Resource Allocation: Prioritise and assign resources based on project complexity, value and strategic relevance.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales and other functions to ensure successful execution of key business initiatives and contribute to global Protein technical portfolio leverage.
  • Support & Deployment: Provide technical support for existing products and lead deployment of Global and BG R&D programmes, KPIs, processes and tools.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team; foster a collaborative and innovative culture and promote safety and customer focus.
  • Intellectual Property: Manage IP strategy and confidentiality agreements and oversee patent filing in coordination with Legal to protect innovations.

Key Challenges

  • Convert diverse customer requirements into commercially viable packaging solutions and decline non-viable requests respectfully.
  • Form and lead cross-customer project teams to deliver high-impact end-to-end solutions (e.g., raw-material simplification, business continuity planning, portfolio management) across multiple regions and cultures.
  • Balance competing short- and long-term priorities while driving results through effective resource allocation.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Strong scientific background; Master’s degree preferred in chemistry, engineering, material science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience within a product development environment, preferably in a matrixed B2B organisation.
  • Project management experience in a matrix organisation and experience managing innovation and competitiveness portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics, proven customer engagement and stakeholder management experience.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time, primarily within Europe.

Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Strong project and resource management capabilities; ability to coach and mentor team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Good awareness of market trends and customer dynamics, strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Comfortable operating in complex, matrixed, global organisations.
