The Research and Innovation Centre of Fondazione Edmund Mach is running a selection to create a ranked list of up to 200 qualified candidates. From this list, FEM expects to recruit approximately 30 fixed-term positions per year, depending on available funding, project needs and organisational requirements.

What to expect

You will join a multidisciplinary research setting focused on agriculture, ecosystems, biodiversity, food quality and nutrition. Tasks range from field experiments and laboratory activities to data analysis, modelling, technological development and international scientific collaboration. The call includes two profiles; this listing refers to the junior profile requiring a Master’s degree or equivalent.

Gross annual salary for Level IV: €41,245. Positions are fixed-term and will be activated according to funding and project needs.

Position

• Plan, run and coordinate scientific research activities and projects.
• Organise and manage experiments and data collection in both laboratory and field settings.
• Analyse experimental results and develop models.
• Publish scientific outcomes in international journals and present at conferences.
• Prepare technical reports and collaborate with national and international partners.
• Participate in competitive research projects and help drafting proposals and scientific reports.
• Provide support to students and early-career researchers where applicable.

Research areas include Agrosystems and Bioeconomy (sustainable agriculture, crop production and genomics, precision farming and automation), Biodiversity, Ecology and Environment (forest, alpine, aquatic and agro-environmental systems, remote sensing, genetics and movement ecology) and Food and Nutrition (food quality, traceability and safety, metabolomic and physico-chemical analyses, sensory and nutritional assessment).

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a discipline relevant to the listed research areas (required for Level IV).
• Research or technical experience appropriate to the applied role.
• Strong motivation to contribute to applied or fundamental research in one of the three areas.
• Good knowledge of English.
