The Research and Innovation Centre of Fondazione Edmund Mach has initiated a selection to form a list of up to 200 qualified candidates. From this pool, FEM anticipates activating about 30 fixed-term positions per year, subject to funding availability, project requirements and organisational needs.

What to expect

You will be part of a multidisciplinary research environment addressing agriculture, ecosystems, biodiversity, food quality and nutrition. Activities include field trials, laboratory research, data analysis, modelling, technological development and international scientific cooperation. This listing refers to the senior profile intended for candidates with a PhD and greater scientific autonomy.

Gross annual salary for Level III: €47,182.01. Positions are fixed-term and will be opened according to available funding and project demands.

Position

• Design, implement and coordinate scientific research projects.
• Lead experiments and oversee data collection and analysis in lab and field contexts.
• Develop and apply models and complex analyses.
• Publish results in international journals and present at conferences.
• Draft technical reports, contribute to proposal development and participate in competitive funding initiatives.
• Oversee technological infrastructures, databases, instrumentation and data workflows where relevant.
• Collaborate with national and international research partners and support early-career researchers.

Potential research topics span Agrosystems and Bioeconomy (sustainable agriculture, crop genomics, digital and precision agriculture), Biodiversity, Ecology and Environment (forest, alpine and aquatic systems, genetics, genomics, movement ecology, remote sensing) and Food and Nutrition (food quality, traceability, safety, metabolomics, physico-chemical and sensory/nutritional analyses).

Requirements

• PhD in a discipline relevant to the research areas (required for Level III).
• Research experience and technical skills aligned with the role.
• Strong motivation to undertake applied or fundamental research in one of the three areas.
• Good knowledge of English.
