Primary workplace: Opportunity to work from our historic office in Turin; role is also available remotely from anywhere in Italy. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to Italy for tax and legal compliance. No visa sponsorship.

Salary range: €50,000–€60,000 per year. Starting date: July–August 2026.

About Ecosmic: We build software for Space Situational Awareness to reduce risks in space. We are a high-tech, data-led space start-up combining engineers and computer scientists to deliver meaningful systems.

Role overview: As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will package internal algorithms into dependable, secure products and improve the development and deployment experience for space and software engineers.

How we work

Tech stack (high level)

• Python backend, FastAPI; C++ for performance-critical components; exploring Rust.

• DynamoDB and S3 for persistence.

• AWS serverless (Fargate, Lambda) with Terraform; evolving toward Kubernetes and cloud-agnostic approaches.

• Collaboration tools: GitHub, Jira, Slack, Confluence.

Company hardware: MacBook Pro (M5 Pro) provided.

Candidate profile

• 7+ years of experience; proven senior engineering and architecture experience.

• Experience delivering products in start-ups, balancing rapid iteration and platform reliability.

• Strong judgement on trade-offs (scalability vs maintainability vs speed) and ability to optimise team practices.

• Hands-on with cloud-native architectures, IaC, and Kubernetes; experience with on-premise or hybrid orchestration.

• Fluent English for both written and spoken communication.

Key responsibilities

• Enable on-prem deployments of algorithms using Kubernetes.

• Improve developer experience and tooling for software and space engineering teams.

• Collaborate on developing algorithms as services and bring prototypes to production.

• Improve observability, review PRs and designs, implement business-driven features, fix bugs and reduce technical debt.

Requisiti

Minimum 7 years experience; senior software architecture/engineering background; experience shipping products in start-up environments; hands-on Kubernetes and on-premise/hybrid deployments; familiarity with cloud-native architectures and IaC; fluent English; legal ability to work in Italy (reside or willing to relocate).
