About the location: The hotel is an urban sanctuary in Florence, set around a large private garden with historic features, a Michelin-starred Italian restaurant and a locally inspired spa, all within walking distance of the city’s cultural centre.
Role overview: The Assistant Director of People & Culture will manage the hotel’s day-to-day P&C activities and assist the Director in developing and implementing strategic programs to enhance employee experience and engagement. The role provides hands-on HR support and works closely with department heads to deliver people-centred solutions that help position the property as an employer of choice.
Main responsibilities
People Management:
- Promote and model the hotel’s culture and the Golden Rule in all employee interactions.
- Lead proactive talent attraction, performance management and career development efforts to secure current and future talent.
- Provide neutral, objective employee counselling and conflict resolution, escalating any potential legal issues to the Director of People & Culture.
- Support succession planning for top talent through development plans, job enrichment and special assignments.
- Act as an HR business partner to the hotel, advising on discipline, benefits, standards and cultural matters.
- Facilitate communication by hosting departmental meetings as needed.
- Coach and mentor colleagues to encourage more effective and productive behaviours.
Key product drivers:
- Implement and ensure compliance with company P&C initiatives.
- Support recruitment, selection, onboarding and development activities.
- Champion standards through training, testing and targeted campaigns.
- Plan, forecast and execute HR plans, budgets and policies and lead change initiatives.
- Oversee employee engagement programs, the full employee lifecycle and internal communications.
- Complete projects and tasks assigned by the Director of People & Culture.
Financial management:
- Deliver P&C programs and learning resources within budget constraints.
- Assess the effectiveness and ROI of HR initiatives.
- Work to improve labour costs and productivity aligned with business objectives and share best practices.
- Support compensation and benefits analysis and assist with audits and market studies when required.

- Working knowledge of Italian labour law preferred.
- Computer proficiency, including Workday and Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in Italian and English (written and spoken).

Schedule & location note: This is a full-time role based in Florence. Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Italy at the time of application.
Requisiti
Minimum 3 years in a related HR role (luxury hospitality preferred); fluency in Italian and English; computer proficiency including Workday and Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Italian labour laws preferred; legal authorization to work in Italy.
