Position summary: The Sous Chef reports to the Executive Chef and supports the kitchen leadership by overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring culinary standards are maintained.
- Supervise the kitchen team and assign daily tasks to staff.
- Act as the Chef’s deputy in their absence, assuming all related responsibilities when required.
- Plan food preparation and ensure every dish follows the agreed recipes and presentation standards.
- Develop menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
- Monitor stock levels and manage warehouse operations.
- Ensure full compliance with health & hygiene regulations (HACCP) and workplace safety rules.
- Quickly manage and resolve operational issues as they arise.
- Track team performance, product quality and production flow, promoting continuous improvement.
- Maintain effective communication with the kitchen team and other hotel departments.
- Oversee staff training and professional development, and communicate any needs for additional personnel.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a team.
