Under the supervision of an experienced traineeship supervisor and within the assigned unit/team, the trainee will gain an overview of the EUI's goals, obtain first-hand experience of the unit's activities, apply knowledge from their studies or professional background, and develop professional and personal skills contributing to ongoing projects. The precise duties depend on the Library unit and the team.

Type and duration: traineeships at the EUI can be paid (up to one year) or unpaid (up to 3 months). From 1 January 2026, a paid trainee receives a grant of €1,540 per month. Non-EU/EEA trainees may be eligible for a part-time traineeship (20 hours/week) with a grant of €770 per month, subject to Italian legislation and visa/residence requirements.

  • Reimbursement of travel expenses for remunerated trainees recruited from outside Florence (at the beginning and end of the traineeship).
  • Mandatory health insurance can be arranged through the Institute; accident cover provided by the Institute's collective policy.

Requisiti

Eligible candidates: nationals of EU Member States and candidate countries (pre-accession), good knowledge of English (CEFR B2 or above) and satisfactory knowledge of another EU language as needed. For paid traineeships: completed first-cycle university degree by the closing date and last diploma obtained no more than three years before the deadline (unless currently enrolled in further studies). For unpaid traineeships: currently enrolled in a recognised university degree programme; inter-institutional agreement required between home university and the EUI.
