Role summary

The Product Development Manager will lead a development team and organize all or part of its activity to ensure the development of products that comply with regulations, Groupe SEB quality standards and marketing requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Activities

1. Manage the team's activity to deliver finished products according to the product plan (new products, product life, modification requests, 2nd source approvals, pre-development, manufacturing transfer), following the EPO development process and associated tools.
2. Contribute to the definition of the product roadmap for the scope, aligned with the BU and Group strategies.
3. Be accountable for the objectives set for the activity.
4. Ensure the application of work standards within the teams.
5. Identify improvement areas to continuously optimize team performance.
6. Create team dynamics through communication and development: versatility, training, feedback and interviews.
7. Manage and optimize team budgets and resources.
8. Convey and relay management messages.
9. Ensure technological monitoring within the scope and contribute to patent filing and renewal.
10. Develop detailed knowledge of the competitive environment: analyze competitor products (design, production costs, price positioning, production location) and understand markets and consumer needs.

• Represent technical expertise and decisions in governance bodies.
• Define appropriate solutions and means to achieve results within the limits of the role.
• Escalate issues to the right people depending on criticality.
• Guarantee high-quality relationships with stakeholders in development: Marketing, Quality, Factory, Supplier, Purchasing, Logistics, etc.

Relations

Internal: Marketing, Quality, Innovation, Service Management, Development Director and other support functions. External: suppliers, Approved Service Centers (ASP), certification laboratories, market authorities, partners, service providers and customers.

Qualifications and knowledge

• Master's degree in engineering or equivalent experience with a minimum of 6 years' experience.
• Proven management skills and specific technical knowledge related to the activity.
• Solid academic and practical background in mechanics, materials and physical measurements.
• Experience in project management and quality methods, particularly risk analysis.
• Ability to work in networks and multi-disciplinary project teams; strong interpersonal skills.
• Languages: English (read, written, spoken — professional level); Italian is a plus.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment; rigorous, autonomous, organized; team-building skills; ability to synthesize information and persevere.

Location: Omegna (VB), Italia.

Requisiti

Master's degree in engineering or equivalent experience; minimum 6 years' experience; proven management skills; technical knowledge in mechanics/materials; project management and quality experience (risk analysis); English professional level (Italian a plus); ability to work in multicultural teams; organized, rigorous and autonomous.
