Tecnimont, the MAIRE Group company for integrated engineering & construction solutions present in multiple countries, designs and builds infrastructure projects worldwide. Tecnimont is recruiting an Electrical Plant Design Specialist for its office in Catania, Italy.

The selected professional will contribute to delivering integrated solutions for complex plants and will support large-scale projects that incorporate cutting-edge technologies. This role is also suited to candidates motivated to help reduce the carbon footprint of industrial operations through engineering excellence.

Mission

The Electrical Plant Design Specialist is accountable, within assigned projects, for the engineering activities connected to the design of electrical systems. Responsibilities cover both 3D modelling and the management of interfaces between different engineering packages. The level of involvement may vary by project. The specialist reports to the Project Leader or Group Leader for project matters and coordinates with the Head of Department regarding workload and documentation quality.

Main activities & responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality and contractual compliance of produced documentation within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Support the Group Leader/Head of Department in implementing and updating departmental and company standards, procedures and work instructions.
  • Acquire required technical training and share new design techniques with colleagues across the Tecnimont Group.
  • Stay updated on technical innovations and transfer knowledge to other specialists and engineers.
  • Monitor market state-of-the-art and provide technical and commercial assessments of new products, technologies, workflows and applications.
  • Develop, together with Plant Design Engineers, complete electrical plant designs including layouts, lists, plant diagrams, specifications and datasheets for systems and installation materials.
  • Prepare, under Project Leader supervision and in coordination with the Proposals and Quantities group, Material Take-Offs (MTO), material requisitions and construction specifications.
  • Compare, in collaboration with the Proposals and Quantities group and under Project Leader supervision, procured installation material quantities against current estimates and site needs.

Required qualifications & skills

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within engineering companies (petrochemical, oil & gas, energy sectors) and at least 5 years specifically as a Plant Design Engineer.
  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and experience with 3D modelling.
  • Experience working in international and distributed engineering teams.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel in Italy and abroad for short or long periods.

Job location: Catania, Italy.

Contract type, classification and compensation

Contract type: Permanent. Applicable collective agreement (NCLC): Chemical and Chemical-Pharmaceutical (identification code B011). Job classification level: Middle Manager, consistent with the role and the Collective Agreement.

Initial gross annual salary: €51,000.00, paid over 14 monthly instalments. The compensation package includes elements provided by the Collective Agreement and company agreements, such as flexible benefits and a participation bonus. Any additional variable components or benefits will be explained during the selection process.

Requisiti

Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering; minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience in engineering companies (petrochemical, oil & gas, energy) and at least 5 years as a Plant Design Engineer; excellent AutoCAD 2D skills; experience in international/distributed teams; fluent English; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
