The Research and Innovation Centre of Fondazione Edmund Mach has opened a selection to build a roster of up to 200 qualified candidates for roles as Researchers and Technologists across three research areas: Agrosystems and Bioeconomy, Biodiversity, Ecology and Environment, and Food and Nutrition. From this list, the Centre expects to activate roughly 30 fixed‑term positions per year, depending on available funds, project needs and organisational priorities.

What to expect

You will join a multidisciplinary environment addressing agriculture, ecosystems, biodiversity, food quality and nutrition. Activities span from field experiments and laboratory analyses to data management, modelling, instrument management and international scientific cooperation. Two career levels are foreseen: Level IV for early‑career candidates (Master’s or equivalent) and Level III for candidates with a PhD and greater scientific autonomy.

• Contribute to the design, implementation and coordination of fundamental or applied research projects
• Manage experiments and collect data in both laboratory and field settings
• Analyse experimental data and develop models
• Publish results in international journals and prepare technical reports and conference presentations
• Collaborate with national and international partners and take part in competitive funding initiatives
• Support students and early‑career researchers where applicable
• For Technologists: design and manage laboratory protocols, data pipelines, instrumentation, databases and complex analyses

Areas of activity

In Agrosystems and Bioeconomy work may cover sustainable farming systems, crop production and breeding, crop genomics, digital and precision agriculture, automation and supply chain topics. In Biodiversity, Ecology and Environment the focus can be on forest, alpine, aquatic and agro‑environmental species and ecosystems using methods such as remote sensing, genetics and movement ecology. In Food and Nutrition activities may include food quality, traceability and safety, metabolomic and physico‑chemical analyses and evaluation of sensory and nutritional properties.

Requirements

• Level IV: Master’s degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the areas above
• Level III: PhD in a relevant discipline
• Research or technical experience appropriate to the role applied for
• Strong motivation to work in applied or fundamental research within one of the three areas
• Good knowledge of English
