Panta Rei Cooperative runs centres for people with intellectual disabilities with the main aim of promoting autonomy and social inclusion. The international workcamp gathers up to 8 volunteers and is based in the Piedmont hills of Monferrato, close to Turin and Asti.
The camp includes a learning component on garden therapy and its benefits, social themes linked to living in a residential facility for people with intellectual disabilities, and an introduction to the local history and culture.
Volunteers will work directly with the centre guests, carrying out everyday activities such as:
Volunteers are accommodated in a separate house from the guests; rooms and communal areas are mixed-gender. The house is equipped with a kitchen and bathroom with shower. Meals are shared with the centre guests and are prepared by health staff, with volunteers assisting. Participants are expected to help keep their sleeping spaces clean and must bring a sleeping bag and personal towels.
Alcohol is prohibited in the centres and in the presence of guests. Special dietary needs (vegetarianism, allergies) can be accommodated on request. There is mobile phone coverage and Wi‑Fi; an ATM is available in Murisengo village. Volunteers are welcome to bring board games, musical instruments, music and cameras for leisure and social activities.
