At Bending Spoons we are building a company that aims to serve millions of users while enabling team members to grow rapidly and deliver exceptional results. We acquire and operate digital products for the long term, favouring deep transformations that boost innovation, customer value, and business performance. Teams are small, with minimal hierarchy, and we integrate AI widely into our workflows so that human judgment and machine intelligence complement each other.

This role is open for candidates based in Milan, and we are running an accelerated one-week selection process from July 24 to July 31. The accelerated timeline includes:

• Online tasks (≈3 hours) to be completed at your own pace between Friday, July 24 and Monday, July 27 at 13:00 CEST.
• Interviews (1–3 hours) for successful task submissions, held between Tuesday, July 28 and Thursday, July 30.
• Final decision communicated by end of day Friday, July 31 (may include an offer).

Participation in the accelerated track is limited; some candidates may be invited to the standard selection process, which follows the same steps on a more flexible timeline.

• Build software that matters: take real ownership from idea to production, operating and evolving systems used by millions into scalable products.
• Amplify your impact with AI: embed advanced AI tools into design, implementation, testing and documentation to accelerate delivery while preserving correctness, reliability and maintainability.
• Master your toolkit: work across diverse stacks with end-to-end responsibility; choose appropriate technologies (from monoliths to microservices, gRPC to REST, Kubernetes to Docker, Python to Rust) driven by purpose and depth rather than trends.
• Simplify relentlessly: challenge unnecessary complexity and improve architectures, pipelines and codebases for simplicity, scalability and maintainability.

Relocation to Italy may include a 50% tax reduction.

The selection process

We evaluate candidates via verifiable signals of excellence regardless of seniority. All applicants follow the same process: screening, tests (which can be challenging and time-consuming) and interviews. We set a high bar and will not extend an offer without confidence in the fit. Before you apply

Onboarding expectation: to ramp up quickly we ask you to spend most days in our Milan office during your first months, regardless of your long-term work location; the company provides generous travel and accommodation support for this period. Afterwards you may work from an office or remotely from approved countries depending on the offer agreement.
