Context and purpose
The intern will support the HQ Regional team in supervising and assisting activities implemented by INTERSOS in the MENA region (Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Yemen, Libya and Iran). The region is experiencing a multi-layered crisis with rising displacement, funding shortfalls and access constraints. The role contributes to programme and grants oversight throughout the project cycle.
Main learning objectives
- Gain familiarity with INTERSOS operating procedures, systems and policies.
- Improve understanding of humanitarian aid mechanisms.
- Develop skills in designing and monitoring humanitarian interventions, focusing on main donors (ECHO, UNHCR, CBPF, AICS).
- Enhance knowledge of the MENA humanitarian landscape (actors, donors, approaches).
Main responsibilities
- Collect and organise data in INTERSOS Management Platform (agreements, reports, Project Appraisal Tool, locations, beneficiaries, etc.).
- Systematise regional drive folders and support missions to organise their folders.
- Support proposal preparation by conducting desk reviews, analysing donor priorities, compiling annexes and internal checklists.
- Support revision of project reports, both internal (PAT) and external (donor) as requested.
- Produce internal materials (annual factsheets, country analyses, regional presentations) for the Programmes Department or other units.
- Support development and follow-up of mission-related dashboards.
- Translate key project documents between English and Italian when required.
- Carry out any other activities included in the work plan agreed with the tutor.
Required profile and experience
- Ongoing Master’s degree in Economics, Political Science, International Cooperation and Development, Social Sciences or related fields.
- Previous volunteering or internship experience in non-profit organisations is considered a plus.
- Good analytical skills and the ability to produce complex texts.
- Italian and English are compulsory; knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
- Strong humanitarian motivation and commitment.
- Capacity to manage varied tasks with good prioritisation and results orientation.
- Proactivity and flexibility.
- Must hold student status for the entire duration of the internship.
