We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. This role is based at Generator Rome and will contribute to delivering memorable food experiences within our lively, design-led hostel environment. Candidates should be organised, people-focused and eager to develop within a fast-moving hospitality brand.

Generator Rome is located a short walk from the Colosseum and Roma Termini station, spread over seven floors and offering a bar and chill-out lounge.

Nuts and bolts of the role

  • Prepare and plate high-quality dishes following company standards and menu guidelines.
  • Ensure guests consistently receive excellent service and encourage a guest-focused attitude across the team.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest needs to exceed expectations during service.
  • Prepare all required mise en place for applicable menus.
  • Work towards departmental targets as a cooperative member of the kitchen team.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work stations, prevent cross-contamination and report any hygiene or maintenance issues to management.
  • Comply with company security, fire and all health & food safety legislation.
  • Continuously develop product knowledge to support revenue and service quality.
  • Carry out additional duties as requested by the Head Chef that are relevant to the role.

Experience and requirements

  • Previous experience in the food industry in a similar role is expected.
  • Enthusiasm for food and service, and a passion for local and trending food concepts.
  • Knowledge of stock control and cost management.
  • Languages: English is required; fluency in Italian is also listed among desired skills.

Requisiti

Previous experience in a similar food-industry role; eligible to work in the EU; English language required (Italian fluency also listed among desired skills); knowledge of stock control and food safety.
