The company develops both alternative-power products and precision technologies to improve efficiency and meet global needs. If you enjoy building skills within a collaborative international team, CNH offers career growth and purpose-driven work.
Job purpose
The Fluid Power Innovation Engineer defines and develops new components and system technologies up to proof-of-concept through prototype testing. The role concentrates on hydraulic and electrohydraulic solutions for agricultural machines, covering driveline, implement and self-propelled working functions, with the goal of enhancing machine efficiency, productivity, automation, reliability and sustainability.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and develop innovative fluid power concepts and system architectures for agricultural applications.
- Support technology scouting, benchmarking and feasibility studies.
- Carry out numerical simulation or coordinate with other teams to evaluate concepts before physical prototypes are available to guide engineering and business decisions.
- Contribute to prototype preparation, bench testing, vehicle testing and to correlating simulation with experimental results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Controls, Vehicle Performance, Electrification, Product Engineering, Software and Validation.
- Work with universities and research centers, coordinating students and researchers on fundamental research activities.
- Prepare clear technical documentation, value propositions and engineering recommendations.
Education & experience
- Degree required: Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive, Energy, Agricultural Engineering or related technical disciplines.
- Experience: Approximately 3–5 years of engineering experience on agricultural equipment. Relevant engineering experience may also include academic projects, internships, theses or laboratory work related to hydraulics, simulation, controls, vehicle systems or machinery applications.
Technical and preferred skills
- Fluid power fundamentals: ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and basic system layouts; understanding of pumps, valves, actuators, hydraulic circuits and hydromechanical power-split CVT transmissions; interest in electrohydraulic systems (electronically controlled pumps/valves, steering, braking, sensing and diagnostics).
- Simulation & digital engineering: familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, Simcenter Amesim or similar; ability to build and use simulation models, run analyses, interpret results and compare virtual predictions with lab or vehicle test data; interest in model-based development and digital validation.
- Controls, data & testing: basic knowledge of sensors, control systems, CAN communication and data acquisition; familiarity with Python, MATLAB, Excel or similar tools for engineering data analysis is an advantage; practical approach to testing, troubleshooting, data interpretation and continuous improvement.
Desired soft skills & candidate profile
- Curiosity for technology and willingness to learn new engineering tools and methods.
- Analytical mindset and structured problem-solving approach.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams and to communicate technical findings to diverse audiences.
- Proactive attitude, ownership of tasks and attention to engineering quality.
- Interest in agricultural machinery, off-highway vehicles and sustainable technology development.
- The ideal candidate is hands-on with a strong technical foundation and an enthusiasm for fluid power, simulation and next-generation vehicle technologies.
