Role overview: We are seeking a motivated Climate Finance Specialist to join a multidisciplinary team that integrates science, policy and finance to speed up climate adaptation and resilience investments. The successful candidate will support the Principal Investigator and Principal Scientist in designing, implementing and evaluating activities focused on adaptation finance and investment mobilisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design strategies to mobilise private capital alongside public instruments to accelerate investments in climate adaptation and resilience.
  • Contribute to the design, assessment and implementation of innovative financing solutions and investment mechanisms for adaptation.
  • Engage with financial institutions, public authorities, investors, research organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen adaptation finance ecosystems and foster collaboration.
  • Monitor and analyse climate finance policies, funding programmes and investment frameworks at European and international levels to inform project activities and strategy.
  • Lead or support preparation of competitive funding proposals and manage implementation, coordination and reporting for national and international research and innovation projects.
  • Support stakeholder engagement, partnership building and dissemination to maximise project impact and knowledge exchange.
  • Represent CMCC in project meetings, technical workshops, conferences and other external events.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • PhD in Climate Change, Environmental Economics, Environmental Policy, Sustainable Finance or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in climate finance, sustainable finance, climate policy, adaptation finance or related areas.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary, international teams.

Contract, duration and compensation:

  • This position is based at CMCC's Venice office.
  • The contract offered is a Coordinated and Continuous Collaboration (Co.Co.Co.), starting in September 2026 for 3 months.
  • Gross annual salary range: €45,000 to €55,000, determined according to experience, seniority and technical skills using objective, gender-neutral criteria.
  • Flexible working hours according to internal policies.

Requisiti

PhD in a relevant field and a minimum of 8 years' experience in climate/sustainable finance or related areas; fluency in English; strong analytical skills; proven experience managing complex projects and coordinating stakeholders.
