Position summary

Operate and supervise washing, dry-cleaning and drying equipment, including dosing chemicals and routinely cleaning lint traps. Identify stained or damaged pieces and decide whether they require repair, spot treatment, rewash or disposal. Inspect items when removed from washers, dryers or dry-cleaning machines and place clean articles into clean linen carts. Adjust dryer settings to the correct times and temperatures according to the fabric types in each load. After each cycle, remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry-cleaning filters and the drain trap. Fold laundered articles to the designated sizes either by hand or using a folding machine. Keep accurate records of laundered items.

Responsibilities and standards

Adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions to your manager and complete required safety training and certifications. Follow company policies regarding conduct and appearance; ensure your uniform and personal presentation are clean and professional. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and safeguard company assets. Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and support the team in achieving common goals. Listen to and respond appropriately to colleagues’ concerns. Ensure compliance with quality expectations and standards and propose and help implement improvements that increase efficiency, productivity, quality, safety or cost-savings. Visually inspect tools, equipment and machines to identify defects or maintenance needs.

Physical requirements

The role may require standing, sitting or walking for extended periods or an entire shift. You will move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance, navigate narrow or elevated spaces, work on sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces and use stairs or service ramps. Tasks include reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling and stooping. Perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.
