Reporting to: Spa Director & Gym Supervisor.
Scope of the role
The intern will contribute to the management of the gym and personal training activities, supporting the achievement of the Gym & Spa’s service standards and guest satisfaction.
Key areas of responsibility
Fitness activities
- Assist during scheduled Personal Training sessions.
- Ensure that all fitness activities meet the Workshop and hotel brand standards.
- Check and maintain the cleanliness of fitness equipment and the availability of guest supplies.
- Carry out opening and closing routines correctly and report any maintenance issues immediately.
Fitness sales
Keep appropriate stock levels and encourage guests to continue with an ongoing fitness programme, recommending additional spa services where relevant. Maintain knowledge of treatments, packages and promotions, take part in demonstrations or events when required and help develop new fitness initiatives and cross-selling opportunities.
Guest relations
- Record guest preferences and update profiles and programmes accurately.
- Respect confidentiality at all times, including data protection and medical information.
- Handle client complaints promptly and effectively, recording incidents and coordinating follow-up with the Gym Supervisor.
- Attend meetings to share up-to-date information from the fitness department and communicate daily activities and guest information to other departments.
- Confirm client bookings using the hotel booking system and interact with guests in the Gym & Spa providing high levels of customer service.
Operations / General
- Maintain a tidy, clean and well-presented fitness area.
- Demonstrate professional behaviour in punctuality, appearance and manner.
- Support the Gym Supervisor and Spa Director in preparing monthly budgets and P&L reports.
- Collaborate with the Spa Director and Workshop Management to create and develop new business ideas.
