The San Giovanni Apostolo Youth Centre in Palermo supports children, young people and families facing social disadvantage in the city outskirts. Volunteers will assist in recreational and educational activities, including after-school support (homework assistance and language workshops in English or French using non-formal methods), and sport activities such as football (training, accompanying participants to tournaments and match support). Volunteers are encouraged to develop and deliver a personal project — examples include creative workshops (guitar, dance, drama, drawing).

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation is a shared flat for international volunteers with 3 double bedrooms, a common living room, kitchen and 2 shared bathrooms. It includes utilities (water, electricity, heating), furniture and free Wi‑Fi. The accommodation is well connected by public transport.

• Local transport: 3-month bus pass.
• Individual support: monthly cash allowance of €6.00 per day.
• Food: monthly food allowance of €150.00.
• Travel costs: covered according to the ESC guide and the Erasmus+ distance calculator.

Training during the activity

Volunteers receive on-arrival training and a mid-term evaluation organised by the Italian National Agency. Online Linguistic Support (Italian) is provided.

Participant profile and requirements

• Age between 18 and 30 years.
• Strong motivation to work with children and young people.
• Flexibility and adaptability to different contexts.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Capacity to implement sport activities (sport education).
• Creativity and artistic skills (for example music, painting, drawing).
• Language skills: at least A1 in Italian and B1 in English.
