Role overview: We are recruiting a hands-on Warehouse Team Leader to support the setup and daily operations of a new warehouse facility. The position is permanent, based in Sulbiate (Milano), and reports to the Operations Manager. You will act as the first-line leader for warehouse operatives and forklift drivers, ensuring efficient execution of inbound, storage and outbound activities, establishing operational standards, driving productivity and promoting a strong health & safety culture in a fast-paced PPE environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate warehouse activities for the assigned shift: goods-in, order picking, packing, replenishment and dispatch.
- Supervise, motivate and support the team to meet shift targets and operational KPIs.
- Allocate workloads to achieve productivity and accuracy standards.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety policies, hygiene rules and PPE handling procedures at all times.
- Conduct shift briefings and debriefs to communicate priorities, updates and safety reminders.
- Monitor team performance and address issues such as absenteeism, performance gaps or training needs.
- Maintain accurate records of stock movements, discrepancies, damages and shift handovers using the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Assist with stock counts, audits and investigations into discrepancies or damages.
- Escalate operational challenges promptly to the Warehouse Shift Manager or Operations Manager and act as primary contact to resolve issues during the shift.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a warehouse team leader or supervisory role.
- Solid understanding of warehouse operations and KPIs.
- Experience managing teams in a hands-on environment.
- Good level of English (required for communication and system use).
- Familiarity with WMS or ERP systems.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to perform operational tasks as part of a small team.
Nice to have
- Forklift licence or experience operating warehouse equipment.
- Experience in a fast-paced or start-up warehouse environment.
